Hand-held Mobile Mapping Technology

Hand-held mobile mapping using SLAM (Simultaneous Localisation And Mapping) based technology is a highly effective way to capture and map the world around you. Using SLAM technology makes it possible to simply walk through an environment and build a digital map as you go, saving time and money and can be over 10-times faster at acquiring data than traditional terrestrial laser scanning.

This streetscape sample was captured using the GeoSLAM – ZEB Locate in walking mode and took less than 10-minutes. The sample was run through a conventional data processing workflow that included cleaning and sub-sampling, yet still contains >3 million points and clearly represents the environment that was captured.

 The ability to capture and process the data quickly and effectively is amplified by the power of PointShare+ which enables the data to be uploaded and stored rapidly and then immediately shared with customers and stakeholders alike, supporting a swift visualisation and analysis review and feedback cycle.
